for the manufacture of hard capsules

The process of manufacturing hard capsules is subject to very strict quality control at every stage of the process:

Selection and quality verification of raw materials for production

The completeness and consistency of the documentation shall be verified and each raw material shall be assessed in accordance with the analysis plan.

Weighing

The process of weighing the ingredients is carried out in accordance with an approved technological specification that assigns an individual code to each substance in order to ensure full traceability

Granulating

If necessary, prior to tabletting, the raw materials undergo a granulation process. The process ends with a calibration using sieves which guarantee that granules with the desired particle size are obtained.

Mixing

Detailed operating instructions define the order and method of mixing all the ingredients. The operator makes an organoleptic assessment of the mixture - colour, smell, taste.

Tableting

Throughout the process, the thickness, weight, appearance, hardness, abrasion and disintegration time of the tablets are analysed

Coating

During the entire process, the weight and appearance of the tablets is controlled

Process stages in the manufacture of tablets

Weighing

Granulation

We have a granulator and a fluidisation tower at our disposal. More demanding formulations which are not suitable for direct tableting are granulated first.

Mixing

We have BIN and "V" type mixers. In large scale production we mix batches of up to 220kg batch size. We have 8 high capacity BINs, which allows us to handle several production processes at the same time, without having to take into account changeover time. We validate the mixing processes and prepare dedicated instructions for each product manufactured, described in the product manufacturing technology.

Tableting

We have the capacity to tablet up to 222,000 tablets per hour. We are currently able to produce round tablets with a diameter of 12 mm and oblong tablets with dimensions of 19.0x9.5 mm or 17.0x8.5 mm. We co-operate with renowned manufacturers of equipment for tabletting machines, and if necessary we are able to select other formats according to customer requirements. All produced tablets are passed through a metal detector.

Coating of tablets

Tablet cores can be coated with different colours of capsules depending on customer requirements. Coated tablets are easier to swallow and by using coatings unpleasant taste/odour can be masked and the active ingredient in the tablet core can be protected from external factors. We have experience in coating tablets with titanium oxide-free coatings. Thanks to our close and long-standing contacts with the manufacturer of the caps, we are able to produce caps in a colour of your choice within a short time.

Packaging of tablets

The tablets can be supplied as: bulk (BULK), blister, blister and carton, glass jar, plastic jar with label, pouch.

We have high-capacity blister lines with automatic cartoners, as well as automatic counters for packing into jars or pouches.

Our packing plant is also suitable for unconventional orders where products are packed manually.

Questions for the tabletting service

Do you produce complex formulations?

By equipping our modern machinery park with a granulation-fluidizing tower, we are able to cope with the tabletting of technologically burdensome raw materials, such as diosmin, by subjecting them to a prior granulation process before tabletting.

What types of tablets can you produce?

We have equipment that can produce round tablets with dimensions from 6 to 16mm. The largest shape tablets we can produce is oblong 19x9.5mm. We can produce uncoated tablets as well as coated tablets. In addition, we make convenient to use, uncoated orally disintegrating tablets (so-called ODT).

Do you have experience in coating tablets with non-TiO2 coatings?

We have extensive experience in manufacturing tablets coated according to the latest market trends (without TiO2). We are able to coat tablets in virtually any color. We cooperate with capsule manufacturers, so we can match the color of the capsule to the customer's expectations.

What visual tablet options do you offer?

Depending on the demand, the tablets produced by us can be color-coated, engraved or graduated, and have different shapes.

Do you manufacture extended-release tablets?

Yes. Depending on the formulation and dosage, we may use extended release technology.

Do you manufacture enteral tablets?

Yes, we are able to make such tablets.
